UGH! Dog hair in carpet.and everywhere! What tips do you have?
Livin’ Life As Mama and Wife asked:
My husband’s dog nonstop SHEDS…she’s a short-haired dog, with black coarse hair (a Staffordshire Bull Terrier). Today I found her hair in the FRIDGE…so we had a heated discussion about what we’re going to do about it. (My husband does NOT care for his dog in that regards…doesn’t brush her, bathe her nor pick up her hair….I do it…and I’m quite ticked off about it)

We have berber carpet throughout most of the house and then plush in the bedrooms…linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom. BUT, I will vacuum…and then roller (lint catcher) brush the carpet and get dog hair. We have a Dirt Devil Vision…2 yrs old….new filter. I just can’t seem to get it all in the berber.
I thought maybe having our carpets steam cleaned? But does anyone have ANY tips for the dog hair!! I’m going nuts keeping this house hair-free.

I have to vacuum 3 times a week minimum. constantly clean your counters, sweep floors, and you will always have to wipe down the refigerator. you reallllllllly need your husband to start taking responsibility and start brushing his dog though. that will sooooo help out.

For a dog not to shed, you would have to have a poodle. And it would have to be groomed. Next Time I get a dog that’s what I will get.

if he will not groom the dog every week. then he has to take it to the groomers to have it done… you will still have to clean constantly. but it wont be as bad…..

If he really refuses to brush the dog, I would either insist that he take the dog to a groomer every other week or get the dog shaved. He will look funny at first but you will get use to it.

Vacum the carpets continuously until you get out as much as you can. Try using a corn husk broom over your berber carpet.
As for the dog, you should take her outside a few times a week and brush her against the direction of the hair growth, typically in an upward direction. Brush her from her backside toward her hair. This will help in the reduction of hair she sheds.
Good luck!
