With 3 dogs, I shampoo my “yucky” carpets often. I often used OxyClean (liquid) with carpet shampoo but got tired of emptying the dirty “sudsy” water before the shampoo mixture was gone. The suds automatically turned off the suction. Now I use about 1/3 of a capful (shampooer cap) of a low suds detergent (liquid ALL with no scent) and about a tablespoon of liquid OxyClean along with hot water. It works as well or better than carpet shampoo. There are less suds to shut off the suction and I get to use most of the solution before I have to empty the return tank. Just recently I read to use white vinegar and hot water instead of shampoo. Supposedly it works because there is so much soap/shampoo left in your carpets. Vinegar is a natural PH balance and neutralizes odor. The odor dissipates quite rapidly so perhaps I’ll try that next. Maybe it will be better, it’s certainly cheaper! With all my dogs, vinegar isn’t as bad as some of their odors.

steam clean you can rent them at grocery stores, buy or hire someone to do a carpet cleaning professionally…. then always keep “spot shot” on hand it is amazing!!

i have just finished washing my cream carpet
i just used daz washing powder and a small scrubbing brush and i am really pleased with the result. i have used star drops but found it left my carpet feeling stiff and i didn`t like the smell it left. i used daz and hot water made sure the powder was dissolved.

Steam cleaning your carpets works wonderfully. I used to rent them until I finally broke down and bought the Bissell Pro-heat and I LOVE it. Christmas is coming…………..
